“Doing Things with Stones (And Minerals)”: a talk by art historian Joan Kee on the manifold works of artist Lee Ufan, who has become increasingly recognized as a significant force in the history of contemporary art. Starting with his rise to prominence as an artist and critic during the tumultuous era of late ’60s Tokyo, this talk will explore Lee’s role in the formation of the Mono-ha group in Japan and the subsequent emergence of what came to be known as Tansaekhwa in Korea.
